Border or not?

Finished this scrap experiment yesterday and tried interviewing a number of different
fabrics for a border last night, but so far nothing seems to be 'it'.

What do you think? no border? or if a border what kind/colour do you think would work with it? Thought about a small 1" black? then maybe a strip pieced outer border but maybe too busy?

Help!? drawing a big ol'blank here.

I really love this piece. I think it would look cool with some of the bright red for a border. I'm one of those quilters who always like a pattern to be finished. I make half blocks and such to join the ends of an Irish chain, etc. Did you use any special templates or rulers for this?

Your block looks great. For the border treatment I'd add a narrow red border followed by a dark blue wider border in a solid color so you can show off some quilting with a variegated thread in it, that would compliment the center.

Your blocks are great. I would do the narrow red border followed by a fatter dark blue outside border. I think this is what Gabriele suggests. I don't know if a solid blue or a pattern blue would be best. You might want to bind in red as well.

Oh, that totally rocks. I would go either without or use that starry looking fabric (or something similar). I'd like to see it without a strong border that would distract from the amazing-ness you've created.

I think red or green for a border.
